The Adelaide Central Market on Gouger Street is one of the largest fresh produce markets in the southern hemisphere and a genuine institution for the city. Open Tuesday to Saturday (with shorter hours mid-week), the market houses more than 70 stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, smallgoods, seafood, bread, pastries, coffee and prepared foods from a wide range of cultures. Arriving early on Saturday gives the best selection before crowds build. Parking is available beneath the market, and the tram stop on Currie Street is a short walk away.
