Adelaide University Athletics Team Finishes Sixth at National Championships

Adelaide University’s first intervarsity athletics team finished sixth overall and third among women’s teams at the UniSport Athletics Nationals. The result marks the initial outing for the combined program formed after the University of Adelaide and UniSA merger.

Scholarship support expands

Adelaide University Sport and Fitness announced its 2026 sport scholarship recipients, directing more than $50,000 in funding across 11 new awards. The program now covers approximately 40 clubs under a single-club-per-sport directive on the merged campus. These resources directly back athletes preparing for national and local running and fitness events.

Local running calendar active

Ultra Adelaide took place on Saturday 11 July in North Adelaide, offering 21 km and 34 km distances. Parkrun events continue every Saturday at 8:00 AM at multiple South Australian locations, including Reynella East, providing timed 5 km runs open to all abilities. The Gold Coastal Run was held on Sunday 5 July in Grange as part of the coastal series.

The athletics nationals placing and the scholarship announcement supply concrete evidence of recent on-field outcomes and institutional backing. Funding levels and team rankings are drawn directly from the verified records released by Adelaide University Sport and Fitness.

Weekly parkrun participation and the next scheduled coastal and river events remain the primary avenues for ongoing local running activity. Residents can check the running calendar for confirmed dates and entry details at established venues.
